Certificate of appointment: manuscript, 1774 August 16.

A record of the appointment of Henry Wisner and John Haring as delegates to the 1st Continental Congress. John Coe was presiding officer of the meeting held at the home of Stephen Slot. Their credentials, signed by Balthazar De Hart, clerk of the committee proceedings, instructed the delegates "to consult on proper measures to be taken for procuring the redress of our grievances."

Henry Wisner (c. 1720 – March 4, 1790) was an American Founding Father and miller from Goshen, New York. He was a patriot leader during the American Revolution who voted for Independence on July 4, 1776 at the creation of the Declaration of Independence, and represented New York in the Continental Congress, where he signed the 1774 Continental Association.
